Action on Elder Abuse operate the UK and Ireland's only national, free phone helpline for anyone concerned in any way about the abuse of older people. Although it cannot provide legal advice, it can provide information on the nature of elder abuse and indicate what action might be taken in response to abuse or to prevent it.

This is a free independent advocacy service offered to people with mental health problem who are aged 65 or over, or adults with a formal diagnosis of early onset dementia. The advocacy service supports people to express their views and wishes, secure their rights and have their interests represented. We accept referrals from the person themselves or anyone who knows them, with their agreement.

Age UK Cambridgeshire is a local charity providing information and services to local people. Our services include day centres, home help, visiting scheme, and mental health advocacy. We also have 3 Information Officers who are committed to finding the answers to your questions. We work with older people to make sure they are consulted and involved when organisations are planning and delivering services. We campaign with and on behalf of older people on matters of concern.

If you have concerns about Alzheimer's disease or about any other form of dementia, Alzheimer's Society Dementia Helpline can provide information, support, guidance and referrals to other appropriate organisations.

Cambridge Dial-a-Ride is a non-profit organisation which provides local transport services that are safe, affordable, and accessible to community groups and to individuals who have difficulty in accessing public transport.

Shopmobility gives everyone with a mobility problem access to shopping and other services in the city centre. There are two Shopmobility centres in Cambridge, one at the Grand Arcade car park, and the other at the Grafton East car park. Shopmobility offices are open Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm. The Grafton office is also open 11am-5pm on Sundays. You do not need to be a Blue Badge holder to use this scheme. To book a service or appointment please call the Grand Arcade or Grafton office.

Through Essex Coalition of Disabled People, Cambridgeshire County Council have provided access to an independent support service for potential DP Users. Direct Payments are offered to anyone who is eligible for a Social Care service as an alternative to home care provided by Cambridgeshire County Council.

Cambridgeshire LINk is a new Government initiative made up of people, organisations and communities with an interest in health and social care. A LINk is established in England by every local authority responsible for social services. Cambridgeshire LINk will look at all aspects of NHS and social services, except most children's social care services (which are monitored in different ways).

This includes Older People, anyone living with a disability or impairment, people with mental health needs, anyone receiving a direct payment or individual budget as well as those who fund their own support and care and Informal and family carers including same sex partners. COPE, (Cambridgeshire Older People's Enterprise) is a self-help Forum and registered Charity run by a small team of volunteers, speaks up on issues affecting the over 50's. COPE sees its role as sign-posting, discussion, consultation, co-ordinating and campaigning. Membership of COPE is FREE, and open to anyone aged 50 or over in Cambridgeshire.
