Cambridge Women and Homelessness Group - Corona House

 
 

The group runs two houses for homeless women without dependents. Corona House is a six-bed hostel providing temporary accommodation with support and there is a 'move on' house, which provides permanent accommodation for two residents. Support is also provided for 40 ex-residents now living in the community and there is an informal drop-in service for ex-residents. Support during office hours and an emergency contact number at other times. Women can refer themselves, but referrals also come from other agencies.

Cam-mind is Cambridge's oldest mental health charity, providing support to people with mental health problems since 1908. Mental health problems can happen to anyone, and most people can and do recover. Cam-mind's services are designed to support mental health service users on their road to recovery. The Emmaus project at Landbeach was the first to be established in the UK. Opened in 1992 by Terry Waite CBE, the Community is home to up to thirty people who were formerly homeless. The community is situated in the village of Landbeach, just north of Cambridge itself, and works closely with other organizations in the area to support those people who are homeless or trapped by poverty.
