Access to Work scheme

 
 

The Access to Work scheme is designed to help disabled people at work. Access to Work can help you if your health or disability affects the way you do your job. It gives you and your employer advice and support with extra costs which may arise because of your needs. Access to Work might pay towards the equipment you need at work, adapting premises to meet your needs, or a support worker.

Arts and Minds is the working title of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Foundation for the Arts and Mental Health. Cambridge Shopmobility

 
 

Shopmobility gives everyone with a mobility problem access to shopping and other services in the city centre. There are two Shopmobility centres in Cambridge, one at the Grand Arcade car park, and the other at the Grafton East car park. Shopmobility offices are open Monday to Saturday, 10am-4pm. The Grafton office is also open 11am-5pm on Sundays. You do not need to be a Blue Badge holder to use this scheme. To book a service or appointment please call the Grand Arcade or Grafton office.

If you live in Cambridgeshire, are aged over 60 or have a physical disability or learning difficulty you are eligible to use the Cambridgeshire Registered Trader scheme. The scheme will put you in touch with a wide choice of traders in Cambridgeshire who can cope with most jobs in and around the home. Using this list of registered and checked traders could prevent older and vulnerable residents being taken for a ride by cowboy companies.

Camread is a long-standing local charity that fund-raises to keep its services running free of charge. Camread works closely with Cam Sight and is housed in the same building at Green End road. We supply a visiting volunteer reading service to visually impaired people in Cambridge and surrounding villages. Camread also produces Cam-mag - a very popular information and local interest audio magazine, distributed across the county.
