Lifecraft is Cambridge’s self-help, user-led mental health charity based at the old Bath House on the corner of Mill Road and Gwydir Street. It has been operating since 1993 and has developed a wide variety of services on offer for adults who have experienced mental distress. These services include free short or long term counselling, a rich variety of groups and activities, a social club, a Saturday service, low cost meals, opportunities to take on voluntary and paid work and a freephone out of hours mental health helpline, Lifeline, open from 7pm to 11pm every day of the year: 0808 808 2121.
Lifecraft also runs a Saturday Service from 12.30pm to 5.30pm every Saturday. This service launched in December 2008 and was set up to support people who feel isolated at weekends when few mental health support services are open. It runs a healthy living activity programme, which has included stress management, life skills, kickboxing, personal safety, food hygiene, creative writing, drama, art and music. It also offers a healthy, low cost (£1.50) meal and a social club.
